Project Challenges

Until recently awareness of MND was largely non-existent. The amazing efforts made by AFL legend and MND sufferer, Neale Daniher, have thrust this disease into the spotlight. FightMND now has four major fundraising events each year, as well as several other smaller events.

One of the most significant of these fundraising efforts is ‘Daniher’s Drive’. Along its route, the annual four-day event takes in some of Victoria’s most scenic landscapes. The drive includes several community-based stops, official functions, accommodation for three nights across regional Victoria, and numerous associated fundraising events. The event includes approximately 400 people from over 100 teams.

FightMND contacted Infusion121 because it realised the need for digital transformation. When running its events, the organisation now felt a strong need to move away from manual processes. Its team faced daily inefficiencies such as printing of campaign materials, which was wasting time and money. We were tasked with building a Content Management System (CMS) that would allow FightMND to easily upload real-time information, and enable front-end users to make donations within the App.

Infusion121 also needed to build the CMS interface so it could change throughout the year. All four major events required its own unique branding when its calendar date came to pass.

Project Solutions

We’re empowered through collaboration, and by working together with FightMND, Infusion121 tailor-built their native App with the aim of addressing the many issues team organisers had been facing. We created a custom designed CMS with a content matrix, an awesome tool to help prioritise content production for each event. We built the native App to be agile, to upload information efficiently on the go, and to provide data to all subscribers in real-time.

The APP’s home screen rotates four times a year depending on the major campaign event being run by FightMND at the time. A user can effortlessly find what they require and access a ‘Donate’ button without difficulty.

When the APP is set-up for Daniher’s Drive its effective UX design eliminates the need for mobile text messaging between teams and organisers, as well as the majority of printed materials previously required to show the event route, accommodation options, and locations. All information on fundraising events is now presented in real-time on any Google Android or Apple iOS mobile device.

Project Achievements

FightMND co-founder, Neale Daniher, informed Infusion121 its APP has been extremely well received by event participants. Furthermore, FightMND staff can now update all information in real-time and in a straightforward manner within their CMS’s custom dashboard both prior to and during the event.
